THE NEW FAIRFIELD METRO TRAIN STATION
The new train station on the Fairfield/Black Rock border opened on December 5, 2011. The station has 1,400 parking spaces and has one hour and ten minute express trains for Grand Central Station. A feasibility study is underway for a pedestrian bridge from Fox Street to the new train station, which would provide easy access for Black Rock residents. Eventually there will a hotel/retail/office complex called Fairfield Metro on the site according to the developer’s plans. Original plans called for a Hilton Hotel and upscale retail stores. Most of Black Rock is located within a one mile radius of the new train station.
